I was stung by a wasp yesterday on my postprandial/pre-nakedization perambulation. That is the one where I wait until the moms have swallowed their last piece of pasta and place their napkins on the table. Then I start to whine and kvetch for my last walk of the night.

Nmom usually takes me because she can check on the world via the internets and keep up with my publicity while minding me while I walk.

Last night, I went to Armand's and then I turned around and started hopping. Nmom was worried, then I sat down and wouldn't get up. Did you know I am heavy? Nmom called Aunt D and Aunt A to go get Tmom. The nice neighbors waited with me while Nmom ran home to get the car to get me home.

By the time they got back - Aunt D. was checking me out. She's a surgeon so she knows what a bone is and has a proper bedside manner. The moms loaded me in the car and took me home.

Mama S. said that I would be okay and not to take me to the vet. My moms are such drama queens, but I appreciate that.

This is the email message Tmom sent out.

Dear All -

I am currently napping on the futon. Tmom suggests that, if I
feel well enough to climb up onto the couch and futon repeatedly, I must
be feeling better. With Mama Stephanie's reassurances, I was not taken
to the V-E-T. I took my Benadryl like a brave basset. I did not go for
having baking soda on my paw.

Do you think that Tmom will buy me a PlayStation with the money
she didn't spend at the vet? My paw does seem to get much worse
whenever I am close to the dog biscuit jar. How does that work? And
what is a "drama queen"?

Thank you to D for being the best human surgeon a basset could
ever have and Mama S. for always being the calming voice for my people
when they overreact.

It rained today. It is going to rain tomorrow.

Uncle Dale took me to the dog park and I went crazy. So crazy that I had to be nakedized when I got home.

Tomorrow, my Aunt Dianne is going to take me away for a bit so nmom can work on her alleged paper.

The rain water is good for my fur, but bad for my bone chewing opportunities.

Happy Thursday, or maybe not. I wonder if nmom convinced Uncle Dale to walk me on Saturday? Maybe he can take me all day and I can do manly things instead of sit around and watch her pull her hair out thinking about regional science and climate change policy.

Yesterday evening, she abandoned me to go to the ppatch.

T mom always says life is too short to not squeak with your dog.

Nmom needs to take note of this.

It rained a lot.

But thankfully, it didn't for my lunch time perambulation and my long walk with Uncle Dale and then the one after dinner with nmom. She tried to skunk me out of seeing Armand. I love Armand. He wasn't home at dinner. He was at lunch, he barked at me!

Now I am snoring. Tomorrow is another day and maybe a trip to the dog park with Uncle Dale!

Hmm. What can I say about today?

I have managed to get nmom to sleep with me. It is really easy. First you go to bed, then you get up and get a drink, a few minutes later after you have made sufficient amount of noise slurping and clicking (toenail dremeling time!), you whine at the bottom of the stairs. Sometimes whining is overkill, you can just pace around and that should do it. It really helps if they only have area rugs and they are thin. Plush rugs are killer on making clicking noises.

Then she gets up to see what I want. Usually it is because my quilt has gotten away from me. I need her to put it back up on the couch or futon so that I do not freeze under sub arctic conditions of 63 degrees.

By this time, she has given up all hope and hops on the futon with me and we sleep throughout the rest of the night.

On occasion, I have been known to get overheated and must leave the bed to cool off. I then make heavy weather about losing my whole futon and grump my way back up on the couch.

I'm not sure why I let her sleep with me, she certainly cramps my style.

Tmom! Nmom got Uncle Guy to walk me! I love that. Can I move in with them?

Right where we?

My moms went to DC to hang out with a bunch of like minded individuals including The Sheppies Ma APE!

My nmom and MA APE ate SUSHI together! They had fun, but because of the whole witness protection things, only their eyes can be revealed. Don't mind the one on the left who looks like she just checked into rehab, she hasn't even made that leap yet.

DC, I suppose is a nice place and all. My Tmom is there right now, working on things that I don't understand. My nmom goes next and I think she is just going to take notes and nod a lot. I think somewhere they are planning to make me go, but I think that will be in 2012 and I'll be really busy then.

So, back to reality.

Why is it that they pick on the basset?

Moms saw this in Brussels and got mad.

I am a sleek specimen of a basset, with short nails and an excellent disposition.

So much in fact, that my Aunt Dianne says that people she meets while walking me comment on my unbassetlike bassethoundness. WTH? I am just being myself.

Moms are going to see the Sheppies APE this week. They may or may not be photographed together depending on their level of involvement in the witness protection programs.

I am living up to my moniker - ett - or Ernest Tender Tummy.

I keep on throwing up my dinner - I think they call it the dog's dinner and usually its right after I finished it. Tmom thinks I am eating too fast. I am doing it until they feed me tiny minced up vegetables, poached chicken breasts and basmati rice exclusively.

They are going to try that four meal a day thing for a while to see if I will not regurgitate my food on the sidewalk, which in most people's opinion beats the antique Tabriz rug in the living room. They also think some pepcid AC, since nmom buys it by the case, this should not be a problem.

Nmom is having a blast using this new iphone application that lets her pretend that her technological tether is a old fashioned film camera. Yeah, I have been over exposed and underexposed depending on the settings she chooses. I want some royalties and that phone away from my lovely mug.

Nmom likes to send these pictures to my Mama S at Rancho Oxboro. I hope Mama S shows them to my sissy, Phrace to remind her of my presence in my absence.

The latest message back from Oxborians harkens back to 1962.

In my absence from the blogging scene all sorts of things have happened and not of all of them good. My mom went to the bridge and hopefully, Wally is being the gentleman that I knew him to be.

I have been working on the video portion of this blog. My mom is taking lots of video of me jumping on the couch and sleeping on it to show the decorator who will reupholster the couch. Take that decorator! Almost as good as the gorilla and the samsonite!

Here I am being particularily adorable and out of focus.

Happy New Year.

In retrospect, this year has been pretty good for me.

I saw my sister two times!

Two cute girls (puppies) moved into the neighborhood.

My new dog sitter takes me everywhere.

My new cousin is now eating cheerios.

I took lots of walks.

I rang my bell incessantly and people bent to my will.

I got to eat home raised squashables.

My mom got to meet Joe Stains and Tanner.

Both moms came very close to seeing Sophie LaBrador.

Next year I plan to do more of the same. My nmom promises me she will update my blog more often. She realizes that sometimes my view on life is better than any apes.

On to a better 2010.

I am being starved.

For some reason, the food I would walk away from in mid-meal is now not enough.

I'm the same weight give or two a few bonios, but I am constantly hungry.

I think its the weather. I am vexing nmom by waking up, eating and then running out to pee and then running back in to jump under my duvet.

Can bassets tolerate booties?

Can bassets learn to deal?

It is going to be sunny and cold all week! My aunt Dianne will be spoiling me while the moms abandon me. I can't wait - sleeping with a human, getting 454 walks at my will and best of all treats all the time.

Someone please send me a Snuggie. Except that they don't come in Bassety sizes. I'll stick to my tecklebub.

It is still raining. I hate the rain. I hate the fact that the moms cannot modify the weather to make it stop raining.

This evening, in order to amuse me, they took me to the Village to go shopping and then force me to wait in the car while they ate dinner.

I had a bit of self serve at Mud Bay.

followed by a bit of a scolding.

Frankly, I am a fan of the little black biscuits.

Tmom reminded me that this was not a weigh before and after eating kind of place.

The rain looks like its going to continue. I am working on my express ablutions and pitiful looks out the window in hopes of one day seeing my shadow again.

They located the cougar! It was not eating arugula or wearing stilettos.

Phracey said there was cougar sighting near Rancho Oxboro. For some reason, Mama S. does not believe that Phracey's beauty and sheer speed could match the cougar's speed and lack of manners, so she's kennel bound.

Poor Phracey.

It has RAINED here. I am not amused. Nmom is definitely not amused because Uncle Dale is on vacation and now has to bend to my will four times a day and sometimes in the rain, its just not easy.

There is one thing I am willing to do in the rain -- eat a bone under the shelter of a cherry tree. My Evita mom did not raise a stupid basset, just one who is allergic to precipitation.

My sissy said I need to be careful because a cougar is loose somewhere near my watershed.

I don't get it - she thinks these cougars eat kittens. I thought these cougars ate arugula and were sighted at Victoria's Secret.

I am confused.

I am also very tired -- my uncle Dale takes me everywhere and for hours - dog park, the park park and to the nature preserve. Isn't that cool? I seem to be the life of the party, except that the party seems to end at 8:05 when it gets dark out.

Happy August! The moms have been busy trying to keep me cool and this requires not sitting in front of the computer, but fanning me with palm fans, draping cooling towels over me and feeding me ice cubes. Yes, they feel guilty because the terrible heat and 100 degree temperatures are ALL THEIR FAULT. I am now sleeping in the bathroom because it is the coolest place in the house that I will visit.

So, what is a guy to do?

Go to Rancho Oxboro and hang out with his sissy.

Other than that, I have a new best friend, Aunt Diane who is now dog sitting me! She rocks -- she takes me on a billion walks and five gagillion rides and feeds me biscuits at my will. I am encouraging the moms to leave more often, but for some reason, they feel that it is better that I leave for a bit. I heard some mutterings about sheep chasing, fox hunting and obedience for me. I think they are going to miss me a bit.

For now, I leave them with this....

I am tired and it is hot again.

Why? Partially because of my new duties as construction supervisor in my neighborhood. Everywhere you look there are sidewalk closed signs, pylons, things to pee on and dumpsters that my mom wishes she could throw my poop in. The construction means lots of traffic and now my biggest fan, Emma isn't outside very much any more. What a bummer.

On the bright side, I am being wooed (shh, don't tell Phracey), by a Havanese named Clover and a dachshund named Caper. Its so confusing .. they both have names that sounds like plants and that start with Cs. Now I know what it feels like to be the big man on the block. Suffice it to say, I like to give smooches and will tolerate some ear biting for the sake of not hurting either one's feelings.

I am still looking for a coed to make me a sign.

I had a blast with my dog sitter! I managed to scam 1999 walks a day and lots of treats. He was trying to understand my psyche so he spent alot of time examining me.

I basically ignored the moms when they returned home from Montana where Hannah is not a resident.

I am tired still. I am trying to talk nmom into the dog park tomorrow. We'll see if I can use my charming ways to bend her will.

It is hot. Too hot. I showed you a picture of me thermoregulating, but you weren't all that impressed as no one exclaimed at my modesty, sense of balance and propriety in light of the impropriety of such a pose.

Believe me, for a black basset hound who is from a temperate clime, this sucks. I think I now know why there are fewer Bedouin bassets than Mitteleuropean ones.

Today my best Dianne, the dog walker came to walk me and while nmom was off smelling a baby and feeding it, my best Aunt Peggy came by to walk me. I am working on a plan to keep Aunt Peggy here. It involves hiding her suitcase and her sunglasses. I wonder if it will work....

My best mailman, Steve, left me a biscuit, like any regular day, but it dropped down to the ground before anyone noticed it was not destined for my stomach. I scared nmom right now by going outside in the dark, jumping into a very nice specimen hellebore and finding and munching down on the aforementioned biscuit.

See, if I follow my keen schnoz, I will find the foodables.

Speaking of which, if you feed me sunflower seeds, I will not digest them and there will be sunflowers all over the place. It is the way of nature.

I haven't heard from tmom today. I am afraid that her weather sucks and she's in hiding somewhere. If she is, I hope she has hunkered down with some crackers and a good book.

I am beset with things interrupting my daily flow -- people staying home, birdseed in my food, plants in my water bowl.

When will the madness stop?

Nmom was sick today and stayed home. She even let me stay on the couch with her. I was a good boy and didn't force her to go out. My this week dog walker and Auntie Peggy came by and walked me. I was pretty good for them too. It may be due to the excessive heat. Maybe its better to be an indoor basset this week.

I wonder how my Phracey is doing?

Nmom leaves nightly to go see my Cousin baby boy. Unlike visiting with other cousins, her pant legs don't smell weird, its her torso. Sort of like talcum powder and spit up. I have yet to meet him. I think nmom may make get a bath first.

Tmom is experiencing some bad weather so send her a yo and ho and hopefully it will calm down soonerest.

I am sharing a room with two lovely ladies today at the hoosegow. Its such a good thing that I'm a gentle basset.

My mom accidentally poured sunflower seeds into my food == she spend some quality time picking out seeds from my kibble. She then decided to use the principles she learned as a budding young biochemist when isolating proteins and shake/filter the smaller particles to the bottom of the column/container.

The matron at lockdown still did not think this was acceptable. So, I'm eat their nutritionables until mom can go buy me some new kibbleables.

I hope she remembers to buy biscuits. We're OUT.

Today it was hot.

I am doing a good job of thermoregulating and remaining moderately modest. N'est ce pas?

I am currently incarcerated at the Academy. I think mom is concerned that I may have not been happy to be put in the hoosegow as I LIFTED MY LEG ON MY BED ON THE WAY INTO THE SLAMMER.

I guess if you pee on your bed, you are stuck sleeping on it.

Ooops.

Other than that, I should be back on Sunday. Nmom is using the time away from me to walk 10 miles a day, fly to New York and back and remain lonely without me.

I have been very busy today trying to keep the home fires burning. I worked on keeping the couch from floating away, kept the staff busy checking the grounds and used my big schnoz to make sure that squirrels and cats were not infiltrating the garden.

Tomorrow I am going towards the wayward bear --nmom has some strange ideas of how to spend Saturday. In this case, she's spending most of it on a plane to nowhere. At least she gets to watch Paul Blort, Mall Cop.

Yeah, I've been busy.

My most favorite thing in the world is to sleep next to a human person. By waking up my apes early enough they will curl up with me to keep quiet and in bed. It works nearly all the time.

I was a good boy today! Aunt Peggy and Uncle Peter came to visit me. Nmom even played a bit of chase the squeaky with me. I think she wants to buy a bigger house or roll up the carpets to make it less treacherous.

Gmere even made me a bit of chicken for my breakfast.

Tomorrow and Friday are going to be warm. I see lots of roaching opportunities in my future.

Oh hi!

Things have been picking up here. My TH mom is pretending to be Jacques Cousteau for the next few weeks, so I figured she might want to be kept up to date with my goings and sometimes comings.

I am now a cousin! I bought the baby this book.

I hope he wants his mommy and daddy to read it to him a million billion times. He's too little to eat cheerios, but when the time comes, I am so ready to help him.

Let's see since we last blogged the moms have been in either together or apart in the following locales -- Washington DEE CEE (Hi Ethel!), Milan (ciao baby), Brussels (sprouts, bleh) and Charleston, SC (hee haw).

So, basically, I have been left to my own devices.

Out of guilt I have received pasta from Italy, waffles from Belgium and water bottles from all sorts of places. Nmom promises me that she will remain with me for the next few weeks while Tmom pretends to be Jacques Cousteau.

Man, I hope she brings me back a squeaky halibut.

Mama S and Papa J are coming to town this weekend. I hope they bring Phracey.

Hi!

I have been super busy this past week and none of it has to do with American Idol or the market. It has to do with Bo, the new dog on the block and reduction of carbon pawprints.

Bo, I wish you well. I understand your father reads a few letters a day and then responds as personally as possible. My nmom is writing one at this moment explaining my attempts at running for public office and what I planned to accomplish. She's not going to sound too cheeky as there is always 2012.

Remember, not all tropical plants are tasty.

I am trying to reduce my carbon pawprint. This is hard, especially if your lockdown options and your sissy are far away. I am asking the moms to buy me some carbon offsets.

This past week I spent most of my time wondering why my food rations have been cut down and why they have yet to get me my own chicken. Hey, Nmom I am on to you.

I understand they are a lot of work. I also understand that Mama S wants chickens too. I asked if I could bring my chicken with me when I came to visit. I have not heard the final word.

Nmom is reading a book about a guy who lives off the grid in New Mexico with an ipod and a cell phone. He procures to goats for milk and cheese. Nmom is thinking that goats may be the way to go, but believes they may be outlawed within the grid.

Other than that, I have been busy fighting the good fight and trying really hard to get more biscuits during the day. Sophie and her mom sent us a really nice package of runny raspberry jams from Quebec and some delicious boar biscuits with pear glaze. Ooh lala. Thanks Sophie. My Tmom says she'll return the favor again when she goes to Montreal this fall.

I am also doing a lot of napping and then running around with my squeaky at all hours. My latest squeaky is a lovely green pepper named "Pierre" that the mom's bought me in Paris a few weeks ago.

I hope they find me some bonios in Milan.

I have been a super duper good boy! It was warm this weekend and I made sure that all walks involved at least one roaching event.

I have even been working on my stop, drop and roach drill. Not all roaching requires a nice soft lawn or meadow. I am hardening myself for being a more urban or desert dog by learning to roach on the sidewalk.

The moms say that I remind them off their dearly departed Roya kitty who rolled all summer long. She was mostly white, but spent most of the summer sort of gray. I still think all cats are weird.

I am also curious what living with a chicken would be like. Could I handle their loudness? Would they steal my kibbleables? Could they be chased for exercise? Could we get a cow instead or a goat for cheese and ice cream? Why do we not have an artisan baker on staff?

Could we please get one?

Hi!

The weather has not been very lovely the past few days. I have looked disgusted every time I have been forced off the porch to do my civic duties. I have been hiding underneath my comforters or on TH mom's lap.

Nmom went to Paris again for the day and all I got this time was a walnut roll from the Marche Biologique. Lovely as it was, it seemed a bit defective. Could she have not picked me up a roasted chicken? A Poulet de Bresse? A small hunk of lamb?

Now, I am driving THmom crazy by jumping into her face while she tries to chill with the paper. Doesn't she realize that the physical paper is so 21st century.

Locked down again. Why? Because the moms are in Vegas baby for a meeting or something they say.

This meeting was to feature a sighting of the famous Ma Ape. They were all at the same meeting last year and though they put up a note for her (see above). She might have been on a panel doing something important or she could have also been in a bar, who knows.

Anyways, budget crises and whatnots have kept her at home with Wally, OscarBean and the lovely Ethel.

And, as you well know, when there is a meeting, I go to LOCKDOWN.

As usual, I ignored THmom when she dropped me off.

I will ignore Nmom when she picks me up. I will then mope for hours on my return.

Next year Wally, there will be an ape-fest closer to you -- in DEE CEE.

I am back from the 509. I am nearly three years and one week old. Tmom and Nmom used
my return to spend a night away from home in the 503. Mama S brought me to them and reported that while I was at Rancho Oxboro I performed miracles! Many lambs were born while I was there and some were unexpected.

Right now I am catching up on my squeaking, sleeping, urban smells and smooching everyone. I have not forgotten how to use my poochie bells and may be promoted to the conductor of the poochie bell symphony. That cruddy picture that my nmom took is just a few of the love offerings from Steve the mailman, he left them for me daily. Is he not the best?

Things have not improved in the dining department.

Apparently tomorrow's instructions to the dining matron at the hoosegow is to limit my food intake to 3 cups of kibbleables a day.

Again, WTF?

Nmom better start taking me to the dog park starting next week, she needs the exercise.

So, tomorrow I'm off to the hoosegow (stated above), email me if you want to be put on the visitor's list. I believe visiting hours are Saturday between 2-4 pm. If you can, please bring me the NYT's crossword puzzle and a kongie filled with almond butter.

I am back from lock down. I will be back at the slammer in a few days, things will change when dogs are allowed to travel in the cabin and my upgrade clears before yours.

Anyhow....

I had a great time in the hoosegow according to the intelligence nmom received while flomphing on a beach in Hawaii. I roomed with a Portugese Water Dog named Lily and we had a blast.

On my return the moms and grand pere noticed that I am a bit bigger than before..so they are trying to up my vegetables and cutting down my kibbleables.

WTF?

Then they show me this picture of me as a tiny puppy eating a squash!

My tastes have matured since then.

Shadow the VET tech did not pan out so I am at the hoosegow again.

I wonder if they can use me there as model prisoner, no doubt as I spend YEARS of my short life there.

Next week I will be 35 months old. I will be able to run for president for sure.

Today my THmom worked from home. She was not paying attention to ME instead she paid attention to the teleconference she was having. I made sure there was a percussion section. I played the Poochie Bells. I have first seat in the Poochie Bell Orchestra. Either that or I am going be really good at tetherball when they install the pole and put the ball down to my level.

They promise me a reprieve for a bit next week and then something about going to a wedding. I am not invited and that makes me mad. My Uncle is getting married and I am so excited because I am in love with my new Aunt! She appreciates me for my athletic prowess and ability to go on 4567 walks a day. I hope I make a good cousin too! I will pick up all cheerios so no one has to bend over.

I am back from lockdown and it has been fun to be home and taking the moms on their walks. I think after all those mai tais and mojitos they need to get a bit of exercise.

At least it was not really hiding like the one up the street that likes to impersonate a box hedge.

Oh yeah, also I was attacked by another dog today. Mostly I was slobbered on, but because of it I have been getting lots of attention and squashables.

T mom saved me from Cooper, the dog who wanted to play and then turned on me. I'm glad she was there.

Well, its time to turn in. I have a very busy day tomorrow of bell ringing and visiting my grandmere and pere.

A successful transaction was conducted at the Burgerville in Vancouver, the one by the WSU campus. As usual, I was aloof and ignored the moms. On the way home, I napped as best as I could CONSIDERING THE LANE CHANGES that woke me up.

I tried to get them to stop at the Governor's mansion to complain about the roadway from milepost 18 to 140, but alas, they said NO.

I am home, I have eaten, I have rung my bell to go out 4565 times. They have bent to my will once. My kitchen is completely bare and there are boxes everywhere. I have been told that the next three days the kitchen is off limits. I hope they remembered to get my bowl and treats.

I am happy to be home and to my couch. I do miss my Sissy and the sheep and FREEDOM to go out and in at my WILL.

The moms have an idea -- they are going to take 11 imac monitors to the Apple Store and see if they can trade them in for one iphone.

I have been sick. So sick, they rescued me early from lockdown so that the moms could take me to my physician the night I came home.

I am not going into the details of my malady, but let's say it looked worse than I felt.

Because of it, I am getting lots of smooches, paw holding, chicken and rice and atta boys.

I appear to be better after one day of stomach coatings and flagyl.

The moms have to get up every eight hours to squirt nasty stomach coating down my gullet. Nmom is much better at it than Tmom.

My Mama S and Papa J were three miles from me and didn't stop. I am a bit sad and mad. I promise them the next time they come to town they will get escorted to all the attractions by me!

Nmom is a bit antsy these days. I am trying to take her on a bunch of walks and dog park visits, but she would rather obsess about the presidential race -one.where.i.am.not.the.leading.candidate.

Well, whatever.

Tonight I would like to dispel a few myths about me.

Just because I am often seen in a red harness does not make me a republican or a republican sympathizer.

Just because I am intact - does not mean I'm a social conservative that does not allow other dogs the right to choose. Though, I fear my days of intactness may be over soon.

Just because I expect a million walks and all the attention focused on me does not make me a member of generation ME!

When I was a tiny puppy, I was told that I could be president. I made it my goal and though I tried to get there this time, I was vanquished. Some said I was too green, some said I was too red, some said it was the fact that I was a purebred basset -- others thought it was because I had the balls to run for president.

Well, I tried and trust me I'll try again!

The SUMDs are having some more tears. I am not amused. I will miss the long legged and gentle beauty that was Cleo. I was lucky enough to see her this past September. She was sweet, darling and so calm. Again, my heart goes out to Kerri, Brian, Pat and the SUMDs. I'm sure Meggie and Kubrin are ready to chase you through a field up in heaven.

Honestly, this can stop now.

Today, Ernest and I went to the beach at the dog park. We met a lovely wolfhound/labrador cross named Eddie. Because of the SUMDs and Finest Finnegan, we realized that hounds don't have to have six inches of clearance and long ears to be special. Wolfies, Greyhounds, Deer Hounds and Bloodhounds are also pretty cool and can help the wrinkly dwarf dogs get things off the counter.

I was let go by my dog walker.

Yup. I did not come back when she called me.

I guess I didn't do the right thing, but my mom's friends all say (or are
trying to make her feel better) and say that most dogs don't come back to someone
the first time they go somewhere with them. Mostly, because I can't even remember what she looked like.

So, we're working on recall now. I am good at it when I am an one on one basset, even at the park or outdoors.

My mom isn't so happy because the dog walker didn't call her until Sunday afternoon to tell her this.

My Tmom says that this weekend we can practice at work on a long leash with lots of biscuits!

Nmom is still going to take me to the park, but is going to be a hard ass about my comings and goings.

I am tired. Must have been a wild time at the dog park, nmom didn't get a report. However, I fell asleep after dinner, so I must be tired. Usually, nmom can't even finish her own dinner before I start ring a dinging to go for my fourth walk of the day.

My mom has given up on me, for some reason, she doesn't believe she has the strength or time to take me on three hour long walks daily. Instead of driving me to Nebraska where she was considering abandoning me, she decided to hire a dog walker to take me to the park at lunch time! She also considered sending me to Kerri and Brian's but the fuel surcharges would have killed her.

Woot!

I get to go the park with my pal Finnegan and have someone else bend to my will.

Nmom is not going to do this very often, but I think it should be fun. Today I went to the park and played with a bunch of other dogs. One beagle something mix jumped up on an overhanging willow branch and jumped in the water. I was jealous because he was brave to go in the water. I just supervised and made sure no one had eaten for 30 minutes before going in the water.

Tmom sent a picture today with lots of snow. It looked not just cold, but grey. I will settle for cold, crisp and blue, thanks.

Well, my dog walker should be here soon to check me out. She already knows me but I'm sure there is some sort of something that needs some sort of legal signature.

This weekend I plan to do some major bone chewing while nmom does some gardening. She said something about bulbs, but I think she really meant bones.

I'm sure Wally and TofuBurger can tell the rest of you where this picture was taken. It was taken at a very well known piece of publicly funded art that is no longer accessible to the public due to the Republicans hating the Democrats or something.

Anyhow, its right by my personal egress to the dog park! The best part of the dog park -- the water! As you know, bassets don't swim but they like to run back and forth the shoreline barking at the dogs who are brave enough to go into the water. I do it when I am allowed and honestly, I think most of the time I am the loudest one there.

Today my mom left me at home and went to dinner with my grand mere, grand pere and Uncle Al. When she returned she brought me some guiltscuits - biscuits purchased out of guilt of leaving me for two hours by myself. She also bought me some foodables as I am nearly out. I hope she remembers to steam some sweet potatables for my breakfast tomorrow.

Tmom says the weather is sucking the big one in Iceland. However, she also said the food was much improved over Greenland and that their sessions go after dinner when people are snozzled. I guess anyone's graphs of the rise and fall of the Greenlandic shrimp production versus solar flares look better after half a bottle of wine.

Dog Park!

I woke up at 515 with a bile issue. I took nmom on a walk at 520. We got back at 600. When nmom got back from the gym I decided that it was time for a walk or a visit to the dog park.

Nmom told me to cool my jets.

I did, in the car.

Then we went to the park at lunch. It was chock a block full of dogs and I had a blast with all the dogs.

Tomorrow, she promised more of the same!

Tmom - I am sorry its snowing and cold and dark. Its going to be sunny here tomorrow, I wish you were here with us!

My TH mom is in Iceland again. I have no idea why anyone would want to go there. I guess she's in the process of buying it or something.

Actually, she's there to give a talk about stuff that is not of great interest to bassets.

In any case, my nmom is taking care of me and honestly, not doing a very good job as all will in the 98105 has not been bent to my needs.

Yesterday I took my grandmere to a nursery up in a different area code. It was fun. Today I spent the day at home, but still went on four walks. Its boring now because it gets dark so early, so I am pretty much ready for bed at 7:30 pm. Nmom likes this because she says she can do things without my assistance.

TH mom usually walks me at lunch time and now my nmom has to do this. She finally met the construction worker whose sandwich I try to steal every day. We took my walk too late and he was done with his sandwich. He could have at least left me the crustables.

Tomorrow is supposed to be nice and dry. I hope Nmom takes me for a super long walk in the morning. Maybe even going to the dog park! A guy can only dream.

Speaking of dreaming. I have finally finished all my kibbleables and water and now its time for me to hit the sack for good.

I am feeling a bit better. I have no parasites in my stools (TMI), I am awake and bored and ready to go. I have had approximately 1.5 cups of rice and 2 oz. of chicken in the past 24 hours and I am still hungry.

The nice vet tech said to up my foodables! Woot.

Thank you for all your kind words. I may be nicer to nmom today and not make her sleep with me on the couch.

I am not feeling very well. I should say I feel fine, but my stomach isn't handling foodables very well.

The doctor says there is something going around or that I had a little too much roast beef on Sunday.

I am huuungry.

I am still active.

I am still happy, but I am hungry.

I lost .2 lbs since last week.

I am being given 1/2 cup rice every four to six hours plus a little chicken broth and chicken breast meat. If I don't get better by tomorrow, they are going to try something else. Nmom has to go out now and buy me some pepcid-ac.

Poor me.

Oh hi.

Sorry I have been so absent. In the last two weeks I have been good, been bad, had a bit of a wonky stomach, hung out with my friends at the dog park, gone on a road trip to Portland, attended my first marathon and participated at mile 7, 11 and 21!

My best friend Scruffy, the Idaho Potato Terrier came over and we played hard yesterday.

I am also trying to keep my moms calm (well, really n.mom) in these turbulent times. She said something about IRAs, scum derivatives, investment bankers and retirement. She hasn't looked so hot the last few days.

So, other than that, we're just keeping cool here.

I am hoping my tummy calms down so that I can eat real food again.

I have been visiting the dog park a few mornings a week. Its a nice dog park, with a dog leg that leads to the water.

I usually am a good boy and listen and sometimes even come back when called.

Recently, I have not been such a good boy.

This means that I have to do the perp walk out of the park ON MY PINK LEASH.

How embarrassing is that?

Tomorrow morning, n.mom promised me the park! I am so excited. Everyone loves me there except for one grumpy fellow, but his mom keeps him away from me.

A few things of note...

My car is fixed. I am now safe to drive in the basset not so furry mobile! Yeah mom. I'm sorry it was so expensive, but I think I'm worth it.

TH mom is soo close to Sophie, but can't get to her. She better bring me back something really good from CANADA!

My uncle Al took everyone out for dinner tonight. Nmom and GP were nice enough to leave me some filetmignonables. Yum.

Thanks for going with medium, the rare stuff is hard on my tummy.

They always talk about the white box around here. My predecessor, Jacques was famous for getting really good white boxes. This is my first real white box and it was delicious. Tomorrow for breakfast I am having mignonables mixed in with my squashables.

TH mom purports to be coming back on Saturday night, Nmom wants to do a 20 mile walk. That seems long to me, I guess TH mom is stuck with me for at least six hours. I guess we're going to have to work on bell ringing and outdoor chewing.

Today we played operation rescue Ernest!

Nmom put me in the kennel in the better basset mobile, we went to the dog park where I made sure that other dogs got some exercise and then we went home.

She went to pop the tail gate and it wouldn't open.

Did she mention this car has no interior handle?

Did I mention that I was freaking out?

Did she mention that she was freaking out?

So, she pulled the kennel forward and then opened the door and then moved it over and I popped out the side door.

Did she mention that the garage needs to take the whole panel off the tailgate at 98 dollars a hour and then fix it and it will easily cost 500 dollars?

Did she mention that she just took the car to the dealer to have them tell her the check engine light code is really telling her that her gas cap is not screwed on tight enough? Did she mention that this cost her 98 bucks?

Did she mention that she wanted to tell them to screw off? (Naughty mom)

Did she mention that if it had been hot and there had been no way of getting the kennel out of the car I would be really scared and overheated or even worse?

Did she mention that she would have paid a million dollars to get me out in that case or any case? Did she mention that due to the financial crisis that now would be even harder?

So, I'm out on my couch and my tummy is full of squashables, a bit of kibble and some biscuits. Nmom went to grand mere's and grand pere's and mom climbed into the back of the wagon and collapsed the wire crate with the help of GP and now I get to ride in GP's jeep for the rest of the week?

Did she mention that GM was not amused by this thought?

Anyways, all is well that ends well. Nmom is relieved that I am okay and that the kennel is out. She wouldn't want the Volvo technician to charge her 98 bucks just to get the kennel out of the car.

Whew, that was long.

I'll be back to regular blogging. My mom is feeling better after walking 60 miles a few weeks ago and my TH mom should be back from CANADA soonest.
